Rotate by Jimmy

To celebrate 10 years of cooking on London’s South Bank, chef Jimmy Garcia has launched a new rotisserie pop-up which is now open to the public. Rotate by Jimmy takes a new direction from the much-loved Jimmy’s BBQ Club, which fired up the grills for the first time in 2015. This new, more accessible, all-day concept is centred on simple food done well.

Celebrating the theatre of rotisserie cooking, whole chickens take centre stage here. Both diners and passers-by can see the chickens spinning slowly on the rotisserie, watching them turn a deep golden colour while filling the air of the riverside terrace with the rich aromas of crispy chicken skin.

The venue has also been redesigned so that every table is able to dine with views across the River Thames. With the open rotisserie in the centre, the space maintains the relaxed riverside charm that Jimmy’s BBQ Club has become known for, while the weather-proof cabana that offers bookable tables for up to six guests allows diners to enjoy the riverside atmosphere among the elements.

Rotate by Jimmy’s menu focuses on quality British produce to sit alongside its rotisserie offerings. The chicken is carved to order and served by the quarter, half or whole bird. Guests are able to share and customise their dishes with a range of dips including house smoky BBQ, buffalo-style sauce, salsa verde made with herbs from the London Herb Company, and a rich blue cheese dip using Oxford Blue, alongside proper gravy. Those looking for lighter options can choose from dishes such as the Caesar Chicken Bap and vegan ‘The Wingman’ – charred cauliflower with lemon and herbs.

Sides to choose from include chicken-dripping potatoes made with British Pink Fir potatoes, truffle fries finished with Old Winchester cheese, classic skin-on fries, charred corn ribs with lime and chilli salt, crisp coleslaw, a heritage tomato and basil salad made using Nutbourne Nursery tomatoes, and freshly baked focaccia accompanied with The London Honey Company butter.

Jimmy Garcia, founder of Jimmy’s Pop Up, said: “Great food begins with exceptional ingredients. At Rotate, we champion the brilliant British produce we know and trust – serving rotisserie chicken, bold flavours and generous plates made for sharing and bringing people together.”

The launch coincides with the Southbank Centre’s 75th anniversary, making it a moment of double celebration on the Thames and another reason for Londoners and visitors to gather by the river.
