Top 10 Foods to cook on a plancha
Growth and interest in griddles and planchas has increased recently, whether that’s because of their ease of use, large real estate or fat flare up avoidance that makes them a dream to cook on. Most are gas or electric… whatever your choice of grill, it’s just lovely being outside cooking.

- Smash Burgers – Almost the best reason for having a griddle
- Pancakes – From thin crepes to fluffy American style, these are easy on a griddle
- Fry ups – A good ol’ British fry up to feed the masses
- Rice dishes – Such as paella and biryani; depending on the layout of your griddle, you may need to precook the rice
- Noodle & Pasta dishes – The pasta/noodles may need precooking, but a griddle stir fry is a simple way to feed a lot of people
- French toast – Good brioche soaked in a custard mix, and crisped up on a griddle with plenty of butter
- Veggies – A load of caramelised veggies makes a great side, or can be pimped up for a main
- Fish – Monkfish, salmon and tuna all work well, or kippers for a lazy brunch
- Shellfish – Mussels, clams, prawns and squid all work great on a griddle
- Meat – Perhaps a beef curry, reheating slices of brisket, or a mound of pulled pork to make the best tacos (I saved my favourite for last)
