Weekend Events Guide
There are still plenty of fire-led food events left to look forward to this summer. Three of which, happening this weekend, are Wing Fest in Birmingham, Maldon’s Smoke and Fire festival, and The Beefy Boys’ one-day BBQ bonanza: Beef Stock in Herefordshire.
The world’s biggest chicken wing festival is coming to Birmingham this weekend. The third stop on Wing Fest’s multi-city tour will be at Birmingham’s Hockley Social Club from Friday 15th until Sunday 17th. Wing lovers can expect live music, DJs, axe throwing and eating competitions alongside individually priced chicken wings at £1.50 from a wide range of traders, giving guests the opportunity to try as many styles as possible.
The Great British Open Freestyle BBQ Championships are taking place this weekend at Maldon’s edition of Smoke and Fire festival, where teams will compete head-to-head in multiple live fire rounds for the title of British BBQ Champion. As well as a host of exhibitors, restaurant pop-ups and a live music stage, fire chefs including Marcus Bawdon, Sam and Shauna and James Peck will be showcasing their skills and sharing tips and techniques.
New to the food events calendar for this year is Beef Stock, a one-day food and music festival celebrating smoke, flame and food. In collaboration with Nozstock, the event is founded by The Beefy Boys, and is being held on their home turf in Herefordshire on Saturday 16th. Beef Stock will bring together live music and DJs, live-fire demonstrations, a marketplace of local producers, and street food from vendors including Gurt Wings, Doughzy Mares Pizza and Jerk Bay Ltd.
