Lainston House hotel near Winchester in Hampshire has unveiled a new live fire restaurant – The Wellhouse. The restaurant is all about wood-fired cooking and a social dining experience in the grounds of the 17th-century manor house, be it inside or outside in the kitchen garden.

Sharing The Wellhouse’s historic listed outbuilding is the popular cookery school Season, which has a strong focus on mastering outdoor culinary skills, offering classes in partnership with Weber and Manna from Devon, with BBQ magazine the school’s media partner.

With executive chef Phil Yeomans at the helm, The Wellhouse takes inspiration from the hotel’s kitchen garden, as well as exceptional local produce.

Combining kitchen innovation, tradition with a twist, fun, casual and personalised hospitality and a sense of place, The Wellhouse will serve as a new destination for guests and the local community to experience an authentic, social occasion.

All food will be cooked over wood fire – guests will see the fire, hear the noise and smell the food. Accompanying the food will be local wines, ales and The Wellhouse’s own vodka and cider, as well as homegrown garden-inspired cocktails.
