This magazine is about food - for both thought and eating, but it is also about products, people and places and the Spring issue is packed with the three Ps.

There is so much out there to consider when purchasing for your outdoor space, be it grills, thrills or a huge range of accessories.

We've picked 23 for 2023 to give you a flavour of what's out there this year. We could have picked 2023, such is the activity and innovation in the BBQ world, even in the face of a cost-of-living crisis, or, in some cases, because of it.

The same is true of recipes. Where do you start? Well, our regular section will excite and inform with a delicious selection as we head into spring.

Outdoor kitchens may look like an extravagance, but there are a range of options to choose from and we take a look at what's on offer.

We have bulked up our drinks' coverage, as more and more brands target the BBQ market and recognise the opportunity to pair great food with great drink, but in a very relaxed, not prescriptive, way. In this issue we reach for Cava, rum, cider and beer.

Ant Middleton may have been the toughest of soldiers in the field but listen to him kick back beside a home fire with his kids. Likewise, Phil Vickery was an uncompromising ruby player, but his gentle philosophies and food musings make for a delightful fireside companion, while Chris Stark talks about his mission to get Peter Crouch grilling.

We forget it was not that long ago that events were banned; gates locked by the pandemic. But they are back in force again this year and we profile festivals in great places where you can find food, fire and entertainment for all the family, and outdoor food is even on the menu at the iconic Chelsea Flower Show.

The housing market used to spin on location, location, location, but garden, garden, garden is a familiar refrain these days as buyers look outside, be it space ready made for cooking and dining or a garden full of potential, as we profile the housebuilders upping their outdoor game.

Inspiration, education, entertainment is BBQ magazine's holy trinity.

Spring is nature's way of saying let's party.

So let's get the party started
